Evans Gonzalez is a small business owner, community advocate, and Republican candidate for Colorado House District 62.
Evans didn’t grow up planning to run for office. He built his life the same way many families in Pueblo and the San Luis Valley do — through hard work, long days, and a commitment to his community.
As the owner of Super Market Gonzalez in Pueblo, Evans worked day and night to build a business that serves local families and supports other small businesses. His store has created opportunities for local vendors, farmers, and entrepreneurs who are trying to build something of their own.
Running a small business hasn’t always been easy. Evans has dealt with break-ins, rising costs, and the everyday challenges many local business owners face. Through it all, he kept showing up — fighting for his store, fighting for his employees, and fighting for his community.
Evans also helped create the East Side Neighbors Council to give residents a stronger voice and advocate for improvements on Pueblo’s east side. Through that work, he began to see firsthand how many of the problems facing local communities are tied to decisions being made far away at the state level.
After speaking with local leaders and learning how policies coming out of Denver directly affect small businesses, neighborhoods, and families, Evans realized something important: if people who understand these communities don’t step up and run, things will only get worse.
That realization is why he decided to run for Colorado House District 62.
Evans believes in protecting small businesses, defending TABOR and the rights of taxpayers, supporting law enforcement, strengthening rural communities, and bringing common-sense leadership back to Colorado government.
Outside of work and community involvement, Evans spends time in the gym and believes discipline matters in every part of life. He likes to joke that when he started lifting weights, he thought the only thing he’d be lifting were dumbbells — not the slack left behind by years of politicians in office while things kept getting worse.
But that’s exactly why he decided to step up.
Evans is not a career politician. He’s someone who built a business, stood with his community, and believes Colorado deserves leadership grounded in real life.
He is running for House District 62 because he believes our communities deserve leaders who listen, who show up, and who fight for the people they represent.
